Choir Audio  "One"
The Ultimate in Audiophile Analog Reproduction

The new Choir One offers performance at the very highest level along with gorgeous styling and craftsmanship.  Performance, styling and craftsmanship go hand in hand to deliver a wonderful musical and visual presentation.  The Choir  One is what an analog source should be.   The design of the Choir One takes into account all of the variables  needed to perfectly reproduce analog signals.  These include mass, speed accuracy, optimized dampening and an upper level Rega tonearm that can be easily calibrated to allow any given cartridge the ability to perform at it's best.  With these variables in mind we designed the Choir One with a massive plinth topped by 10gauge carbon steel, a 2 inch thick platter precision machined from 6061 extruded aluminum, an extremely accurate DC speed control system and the very musical and accurate Rega RB700 tonearm.

In addition to the excellence of the basic turntable and tonearm platform provided by the Choir One, we have added two special extra features:  Working cooperatively with  Pete Riggle Engineering and Audio we found the next level of performance.  We are very proud to release the Choir One as the first production Turntable offering the wonderful Pete Riggle designed VTAF and CCM as standard equipment. With the addition of the VTAF for full VTA (Vertical Tracking Angle) adjustment in increments as small as .0001" to .5" therefore offering a precision and accuracy that before was not possible. The CCM (Counterweight for the Common Man) uses precision machined parts. Parts include a beautifully finished Alloy 360 brass counterweight, a non- magnetic stainless steel stub, a threaded non-magnetic stainless steel insert into the tone arm, a socket head cap screw securing the stainless steel stub to the rear of the tone arm.

Speed control accuracy is provided by a High Torque 24VDC Motor, with PWM control and closed loop speed feedback to insure the most accurate speed possible. All speed control is done via the "Speed Pod" which can be mounted any where and connected to the turntable by an umbilical control cable. This allowed us to keep the Main Deck clean and free of control buttons and knobs. Motor mounting is done in via a dual isolation method allowing absolute isolation from any motor produced vibrations. Energy Transfer from the High Torque motor is done via dual belts and a heavy weight drive pulley machined from 360 brass. All Plinths are made to order based on customer specifications based on wood type and finish. The standard offering is in Black Walnut or Oak hardwood.

 Speed Control and Energy Transfer:

Many companies describe to the use of a small low torque AC Synchronous motor to attempt proper speed control of a massive platter. At Choir Audio we believe that a proper reproduction of an analog signal dictates not only a very accurate speed, but enough power to drive the stylus through complicated musical passages with ease. Our 24VDC motor delivers the type of energy and power related to the Idler Drive systems, but with the quietness of a belt driven system. The best of both worlds with the addition of a Main Platter that has not been machined to allow room for the Idler drive components, therefore reducing mass and inertia. The One's Main Platter uses our "Dual Inertia" Shaft system, which replaces any material that has been removed during the machining process, giving the platter a full 2" of solid aluminum and Stainless Steel from edge to center which will eliminate the "Ringing" effect found in many aluminum platters that have had the interior material either machine away or left hollow from a casting process.
